PORTAMENTO
( por · tah · MEN · toh )
THE GLIDE THAT LIVES BETWEEN TWO PITCHES
A pitch glide that slurs smoothly from the note you left to the note you land on.
CAESURA · v0.1.4 · Port
IThe Idea
Portamento is the singer's slur and the fretless player's secret; the carrying tone that refuses to jump, sliding instead from one pitch to the next. This pedal puts that glide under every note you play. Move to a new pitch and the output chases after it, gliding the distance you set. Keep it short and it is glue between notes; stretch it out and it becomes pedal-steel falls and whammy dives. LAG decides how committed a new note must be before the glide gives chase, so fast runs stay intact and held bends sing.
IIThe Controls
- GLIDE
- Portamento time; how long the output takes to slide from the old pitch to the new one.
- BEND
- Maximum pitch-shift amount, scaled by the VOICE range.
- LAG
- Retrigger inertia; how stable a new pitch must be before a glide commits. Keeps fast runs clean.
- VOICE
- Width of the bend range; from a sixth up to two octaves.
- DUCK
- Pulls the wet glide back in proportion to how hard you're playing.
- MIX
- Wet amount; your dry signal stays full underneath.
IIISwitches & Footswitches
- BYPASS (footswitch)
- True dry passthrough.
