ANTIPHON

ANSWERS IN THE SPACES YOU LEAVE
A call-and-response delay that listens, then replies in the gaps.

IThe Idea

Antiphon is named for the oldest form of musical conversation; one voice sings a line, another answers from across the room. It does not repeat you so much as reply to you, waiting out the silence you leave before it speaks. Give it room and it becomes a second player: patient, sympathetic, sometimes answering a fifth above. Crowd the spaces and it falls quiet, deferring to you. Played sparingly it is a duet partner; opened up with Wash, it builds a sustaining choir out of your own phrases.

IIThe Controls

SPACE
How long it waits before answering. With SYNC on, the gap locks to a note division of the host tempo.
PRESENCE
How loud and present the answer sits behind your playing.
FOLLOW
Short stabbed replies at one end; longer, complete phrases at the other.
COLOR
Chance and depth of the answer arriving transposed; a fifth, an octave; instead of in unison.
DUCK
How quickly the answer steps aside when you start playing again.
MIX
Balance of you and the answer. Fully left is dry guitar only.
WASH (fader)
Down = a single reply. Raise it and the replies regenerate into a sustaining wash.

IIISwitches & Footswitches

SYNC (toggle)
Snaps the answer gap to a host tempo division (1/16, 1/8, dotted-8th, 1/4, dotted-4th).
BYPASS (footswitch)
True dry passthrough.
